Changing your nickname

Is it possible? Or is it a pipe dream?

I remember I changed my email about a month ago. AnandTech gave me a small amount of trouble about it, and Heatware was a little more stingy (but I had no problems after a week).

I would presume changing nicks would be near-impossible, since there'd be all kinds of problems with identity theft and identity 'avoidance', but I'm hoping someone will show me how wrong I am. 😛

You need to head over to the Forum Issues board and ask nicely, maybe one of the Mods will be in a good mood and will make the change for you.

Lol,I'd change my nic but don't know what would be a better one for me 🙂

And then get Heat to switch that one too?

It's not a big issue. I originally chose this nick to avoid any confusion between me 'business' and me 'cstrike/EQ/whatever'. But... me-business isn't a real person, and me-whatever doesn't want to change his nick every time he logs on AT Cstrike. 😛

You can keep the same Heat name. Just cross reference email addresses for verification.

baffled2: You already have "geekbabe" in your email, or is that taken?

It's always this way. "What's your phone number? Why is it so hard to remember?" "Oh, did you spend $10k on a new car, but don't like it anymore?" "Look, that GF4 -- it wasn't worth the money." "Oh, and your girlfriend, didn't anyone ever tell you that 'variety is the spice of life'?"

And there was that fiasco two years ago about 'Privacy and Security on the Net', at which point it became highly unfasionable to use something like "echung" as a username. Ugh, I still haven't been able to remember my CyberGold username.
