That's almost always an issue with bad ram, a bad memory controller, or ram that's clocked too high or timed too tight.

EDIT: Jeebus, I just kinda of posted this tidbit of knowledge as a reflex... I didn't realize I was unbanned until just now. :Q

Yep. Nowaday it's the job of the bios to control the IRQ stuff, with only some support from the OS.

For every OS other then win9x's you should choose non-PNP-OS/not PNP-aware-OS options in the bios settings.

my ram is good im sure (ran some tests not too long ago) but just to be sure im gonna run them again after i format my rig...

Try giving your ram 2.8v, and loosening the timings.. I'd almost gaurantee that's your problem... I've had that problem before.
