How do users change their passwords in an Active Directory Domain? I've been asked to help a small company come up with a password policy and setup user passwords. Can they do it from their desktops? How?

Thanks.

Edit: I guess I should specify that they have Win98 workstations and can't hit ctrl+alt+delete and choose change password.

Go into Control Panel > Passwords (I think, working from memory). There should be options to change Windows passwords, and then one to "change other passwords". That will allow them to change their domain password.

Can anyone confirm this? I'm going to be doing this soon and want to make sure I've got it right.

Thanks.

If you log into a domain, to change your password your use ctrl-alt-del and select change password. Simple. Make sure the users have the ability to change the passwords on the server though.

control panel>passwords>"change other passwords">microsoft networking

or just force them to upgrade to 2k/xp and increase your bill thus making their lives easier and getting more $ in the process :D

Windows will warn them 14 days in advance that their password is going to expire and give them the option to change it then. Will that work for you?

if he sets the policy up this way.

What you could do is just setup the group policy as you need to and than expire everyone's passwords, that would both give them the easy ability to change their passwords and also enforce your new policy.
