How can I change the IRQ settings for some of my devices under Windows XP? Traditionally, I've gone into device manager, select the device I want to change, click on the resource tab, uncheck the automatic configuration button and choose what I want. On XP, it is greyed out
After reading on MS's website, the only thing I could come up with is the fact that when I installed XP, it installed the ACPI HAL which does IRQ sharing for me and the only way to change this is to reinstall XP and have it not use ACPI. However, I don't want to disable IRQ sharing totally, I just want to be able to fool around with the resource settings of some of my devices.
The reason I'm doing this is because I have my video, USB controller, sound, and two PCMCIA controllers all using IRQ 9. Any EQ players out there know that Verant is telling people that IRQ sharing is a bad thing for EQ, and to change it (though it has NEVER caused issues for me until I've played EverQuest). I have IRQ 3,4,7,and 11 free, so I want spread the wealth a little bit and see if that helps the problems I've been having in the game.
