Changing steering wheel

I have a 2002 Toyota Camry LE with stock CD/cassette non-JBL audio. What I'd like to do is have steering wheel radio controls and bluetooth audio so that I can stream music to my car wirelessly and take phone calls. I think a Neo Prolink Plus PTOYV9-BT will handle the bluetooth audio. I'm still trying to figure out if I can link another bluetooth microphone to the whole system so that my phone would use a separate microphone as well. Anyway, I've found a 2005 Camry XLE steering wheel with some controls that looks very similar to my LE steering wheel. What I should be searching to see if its possible to make this happen? Or am I SOL?

I doubt this will work.

It is nearly impossible to get stock wheel controls to work with aftermarket components without rewiring everything. You need to be sure the 2005 controls will work with the components you want to use before attempting to modify your 2002.

You will need to look at a wiring diagram for both the 2002 and 2005 Camry and trace out the steering wheel controls. My bet is the wiring won't match, but you might get lucky. If the wiring does match, then you will should be able to swap in enough 2005 parts to work with the components you want to use. Assuming those components work with a 2005 to begin with.

Go to Crutchfield and see if there's an adapter to make your Camry SW controls work.

Miata is right...sort of. Chances are you'll probably need a slip-ring assembly for the extra wires. Being that 02 and 05 are the same generation, you'll probably be able to pull this off without too much trouble assuming Toyota kept the parts similar between the 2 cars (very likely).

From what I have found from dismantling vehicles and incorporating new technologies into older vehicles is it is likely that all those buttons on the steering wheel use only one slip ring. There might be two but there sure is not enough room for a slip ring for every button/function.

The ones I have worked with (Ford) all have a different resistance for every function and connect to ground so each one produces a unique voltage in the circuit.
