Changing removeable hard drive letter assignment

I have two computers and removeable hard drives as well as main drives and have one portable that I assigned drive F to. Its recognized in both computers however I've just gotten another hard drive that I installed in the other removeable drive but it takes over D in that one.

How do I change it? Its a used drive and has been formatted already. Do I need to fdisk it?

What OS? If Win9x, youu can go into the device manager, go the the properties for the drive, and change the letter. In NT/2000 go into Disk Administrator(NT) or Computer Management->Disk Management (or something like that when in Win2K).

it's win98se but the properties in device manager for the removeable, or the main hard drive, are not accessible, just listed

i've changed cdrom letters thru device manager but think I have to go through fdisk for the hard drive
