Changing or removing the arrow on XP icons

Ok, I am a doofus.
I've searched google with keywords, I've been reading through Annoyances.org but I cannot seem to find the rigt article.

I want to make those arrows in the lower left hand corner either disappear completely, resize or make them transparent. In Win2K, tweakUI used to do that for me. But the tweakUI for XP doesn't seam to have that feature.

I don't want to buy software that ends up doing something in the regisrty that I can do for myself.

I recently downloaded tweak UI version 2.1 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

I've just checked, and if you drill down to Explorer --> Shortcut, it will allow you to change the shortcut icon in there.
