Changing mouse acceleration

Hi, I play a lot of dos games in Windows 98. Recently, the mouse acceleration has gone through the roof in these games, with no known cause. I have eliminated all hardware problems, and the Windows sensitivity/acceleration settings have no effect in these dos games. So, I'm wondering how I can modify the acceleration of the mouse for dos games played within Windows 98? Again, the Windows settings have no effect on the mouse in these games.

Anyone 🙁? I'm running out of answers. Here is another clue I found. The mouse is also much faster in non-dos based games.

Ok, I noticed something interesting. I have 2 copies of Win98. On one, it shows my mouse under Human Interface Devices. But, it doesn't under the other. They both use the same Intellipoint Software. Any idea how I can make my mouse show up under Human Interface Devices?
