Changing Mainboard & removing items in Device Manager

I'm changing out a mainboard, and, want to use the same harddrive and other devices. After I install board, hook up new devices, should I boot up in "Safe Mode", go to Device Manager, remove everything in there I can? Even go into the "System Devices" subheading, and remove everything in there? Is this method pretty
reliable and, is it safe?

yeah, that method should work fine. as long as you remove those system devices (the ones related to your old mobo) and reboot, windows should re-find your new mobo stuff and be fine.
