Changing Logitech Mice?

I'm currently using a Logitech Cordless Mousman Optical and I decided to upgrade to the MX700 because I've heard that it's an excellent performer plus I won't have to worry about changing batteries every few weeks.

Anyways, my question is before plugging in the MX700, do I have to uninstall the CMO's software, and then install whatever software came with the MX700 or can I just plug it in and be ready to go since they're both Logitech?

Also, should I pick up a mousepad? Because the desk I'm using it on has a wooden finish (although I believe it's more of a pressboard type things as opposed to solid wood) so I don't think it's that great of a surface. If I want to spend no more 5-10 bucks on a pad, is there anything I should look for in particular or is a mousepad a mousepad?

Thanks.

The Mouseman software can be used on any version of Logitech mouse, there is no specific software for the MX mice. I would actually download the latest version of the software from their website first, install it and then attach your new MX700.

A mousepad is optional, however, it will prevent you from wearing down the surface on your desk.

Also, what exactly is iTouch software?

I hard it's got something to do with wireless keyboard mouse combos but if I have a separate wireless keyboard and mouse (CMO soon to be an MX700, plus a basic Logitech cordless keyboard), do I need to download it?

iTouch is the software for your keyboard's function keys. I removed mine (wired Elite keyboard with MX700 mouse) as I found it took forever for my PC to shutdown with it installed.
