Changing location of Program Files

Hello all,

I was just wondering how you go about changing the default location Program Files. I am repartioning my machine and want one partition to be dedicated to just the program files. I am not sure whether or not it's just a reg hack or there's an actual setting in windows where you can change it. Thanks in advance for reading this.

I used to have a separate partition for apps and games. I guess I thought it was a better from the file organization standpoint.

There are utility programs with a 'move' function that will move programs to a separate partition.

But it's pointless, really. Apps and games still have portions in the OS partition and/or are linked to the OS partition via the registry. If you are forced to do a 'clean' OS installation, you'll still have to re-install those apps and games.

From a filing organization standpoint, it isn't really any cleaner than having all games and apps in the 'C:\Programs' folder.

Hope this helps!
