Changing folder name under Docs & Settings?

I was reinstalling Windows XP for a friend and I speled her last name wrong (off by 1 letter) when setting up the user name. I thought I could just go into the registry and search for the mispelled name and just change it to the right one which I could do. However when I go into Docs & Settings and try to rename the folder that contains all the settings, I get an error that the folder is used by Windows and I can't rename it,

Is there any utility I can run to automate this or some other way I can rename that folder?

You can rename it once you login as another user.

I tried that and I still got an Access Denied message. I just made a new user with the right name and transferred everything over to it. Seems to have gotten the same end result...

Then something was still running using that directory, you probably used Fast User Switching instead of actually logging off.

No, I actually logged off. But there might have been a program running in the background or something... I never use that Switch User thing.
