Changing car colors...

How hard is it to completely change your car color? I have a red car and was thinking about getting it painted black or something. It would be nice for the paint job to completely cover any red there used to be. Is this possible or do people usually just get the same paint color done?

Generally they need to strip all of the paint off, hoping the primer is still good, then repaint. to change the color of my truck I was quoted 4K, because they need to fix the dents as well.

Unless you are going to strip it down and paint it, DON'T change colors.

Better off just selling it and getting the same car with a different color.

the man is right.

It is possible, but how much do you want to spend?
I stripped the paint off of this truck, reprimed it, and repainted it myself. I didn't bother with stripping/painting under the hood or even in the door jambs because my truck isn't worth much anyway. The old paint was peeling off, so I wanted to spray it with something that wouldn't peel.

call around a few places local to you. a new color repaint is expensive. redoing the same color is very cheap in comparison. (something like 500 for same color, 2k for other color)

good luck and let us know what you find out and do.
