how often should i change my a/s I ask because my temps were 65c after runnig united devices cancer research and pool of radiance. to cool i use a slk800 and a adda fan 33 cfm two more 120mm case fans papst in a antec sonata case.

What is your typical idle temp?

If applied correctly, one application should last for years. I think 3 years has been stated here before, but I doubt it's an exact science. I ran SETI for years here myself and it hasn't yet lost its potency.

If there are concerns about heat, make sure the heatsink is on correctly and that there is good airflow... more fans are good, but sometimes the intake vents get dusty. Room temperature is also a factor, as well as the case's own cooling potential... The Sonata is "adequate" with cooling, but doesn't win any awards.

Those temps sound perfectly fine. It's only during the cancer crunching and POR together that your temp reaches 65? Damn, that's one intense process. 😉

I usually disable the distributed computing projects while playing games or anything else that intense.

You're still well within the CPU's heat tolerance, if that's a concern. Generally 80 or more, and things can get wonky (that's not a technical term).
