So I wanted to lose weight, so I thought I'd try the StrongLifts program and it was awesome in the sense that I definitely got stronger and lost weight.

I went from 215 to 195 in a course of about 3 months. Then I stopped losing weight (while keeping my diet the same). Weight stayed at 195 [+/- 1] for a month and a half.

Decided to go to a more cardio intensive route with light lifting. So now, for about 2 months, Been doing 3 miles 5 days a week with light lifting as mentioned before. Now I'm at 185.

Just wanted to share.

edit: One thing that sucks about leaving the StrongLifts routine is that I'm definitely not as strong as before. 🙁

I'll go back to it once I get to 165-170ish.

Of course more cardio is going to make you lose more weight. Whether that is "better results" depends on your goals.
Congrats on your progress.

As you lose weight, your basal metabolic rate decreases. If you had been trying to maintain a caloric deficit, by the time you lost 20 pounds, it's likely that you were back at eating maintenance.

In the same amount of time, cardio typically burns more calories than weight lifting. So this change probably increased the number of calories you burned per day and put you back in a caloric deficit.

Unfortunately, cardio and "light weight lifting" does not help you maintain lean body mass (LBM) like heavy lifting does. Therefore, some of your recent weight loss is likely to be muscle mass, and not just fat. That, combined with reduced practice at heavy weights, is probably why you got weaker. I'd recommend getting back on SL 5x5 sooner than later. Otherwise, you'll keep losing weight, but if a lot of it is muscle mass, your bf% won't decrease all that much.

I wish I needed to lose weight seeing as I can't gain any (I "can't" eat enough"). I did however start Stronglifts this week, did Workout B tonight. I'm loving it so far. OH press is really fun.

Have you tried drinking a gallon of milk every day?

Or even tracking calories?

No gallon of milk but I will be drinking more now. Tracked calories before but I don't have the discipline to prepare all the food I need to eat. My body is a freaking furnace. I don't need to gain weight it would just be nice. Not nice enough to spend the time trying to cram 4000 calories a day into my face.

With a ton of milk, it's pretty easy. On a lazy day, I get about 1k calories from milk. I've been accidentally gaining weight (152->158) in the last 10 weeks because of this. It's easy, man, just try the milk. It'll help.

No reason, you are just stronger than I am, and so I imagined you were taller and heaver also. I think we weight about the same -- I'm around 159 right now. I'm currently trying to get up to being able to do at least three sets of 10 BW pull-ups (right now up to doing 5 sets of 6 reps), and remember reading that you're doing weighted pull-ups, and squatting much more than I am.

I recently squatted 115lbs, and that was actually kind of heavy, mainly at the lowest point (I'm going pretty low, definitely past parallel). That wasn't a one rep max or anything (it was 5x5), but I could tell I would struggle to do over 200 right now.
