Changed from Q6600 to E8400, now system won't boot up

So I recently got an E8400 for cheap and swapped out my current Q6600 and put it in, and my system would not boot. I took out the E8400 and put the Q6600 back in, and I'm still having the same boot issue. I tried taking out the battery and using the CLRTC jumper, and that didn't change anything. I've used 3 different video cards, two different displays, and still nothing shows up. Now I'm at a loss, as I can't figure out what's the issue here. It was running just fine before I powered off to change CPUs, and now all I get are spinning fans but nothing else.

Could it be the PSU? It's a corsair modular 620W, and I've had no issues with it thus far. only 1 HDD and 1 optical drive are connected to the system.
 
If you put the Q6600 back in, and everything is connected (check all power connections), maybe you uh "fried" the mobo
 
Not an Intel guy, but are you sure your Mobo supports it? Also, possibly a BIOS update might have been warranted to get the E8400 up and running.

In the meantime, I'm not sure what else to try beside ensuring (via the manual) that you are using the correct jumper placement to reset your BIOS. Start by reducing to minimal components.

Did you reset the BIOS before trying the E8400 install? Typically I reset when changing a processor since you don't know what other settings may need adjusted.

Unfortunately no, I did not update/reset the BIOS before putting the E8400 in (completely forgot). When I had the Q6600 in everything was at stock settings. I can understand the E8400 not booting up due to a possible older BIOS, but would that prevent a re-inserted Q6600 from booting up?

I tried again with different RAM, still nothing. I'm almost certain it's the mobo.
 
If it was booting up with the q6600 reinserted, I would have said the BIOS update fix.

But since it's not, most likely motherboard is bad.
