Change window focus without minimizing a fullscreen app

I'm running a fullscreen counter strike window on one of 2 monitors, and i want to be able to interact with windows on the other monitor with cs:s minimizing, because thats what it does whenever I change the window focus from it. (standard behavior of fullscreen windows) How do i prevent it from minimizing whenever it losses window focus?

All you do is make the game not "grab" the mouse. If you hit Esc, you should be able to move the mouse to the second monitor. I know this works for GTA San Anadreas. For games that don't grab the mouse, such as World of Warcraft, the mouse freely moves from the game to other windows.

edit: This also works for windowed mode. Just hit escape and you can move the mouse away from CS/Doom/TF2
