A great afternoon to you all.

I work in a border city - Windsor, Ontario.

Throughout my daily transactions, I get a lot of American change - nickels, pennies, dimes, quarters etc. Over here a US coin is treated the same as a Canadian coin.

I was wondering, does it work the same over there if you get some Canadian change (obviously the loonie or toonie do not apply :p ) ??

just curious, TIA

Nope. Maybe in Niagra, but not even in Albany or Buffalo as far as I know.

Pennies, nickels, and dimes generally pass unnoticed in my experience.

We used to get them in Ashland, WI, and nobody ever gave us problems about using them.

I've only seen Canadian pennies this far south, we just ignore them and go on.

no. in fact, they tell me as if I gave it to them on purpose. It was only a penny or something... but it was also the US Post Office the last time this happened. ;)

Usually only border areas will take them, and they don't count as being worth as much, since they're not.
