Change Default Program For Different Programs

Hi i was doign wt a normaly did on computer and i accidently changed the default program for exe files to command prompts so now almost all my files open wiht command prompt and in order for me to use something i have to click open with then browse and click the program i need to find out how to make each program open with its own program and i cant do system restore since it isn't working can anybody help me?
 
right click, open with, make sure the always use this program to open this file type box is checked. I wasn't aware you could change what exe's opened with... that's gotta be a pain.
 
The thing is it wont let me chec kbox the box cause then it will make all exe files open with watever file i chose i need to choose things ot open it with seperately but i dont know how and im using windows 7 beta it doesnt hgaev that choise jsut open all kinds of programs with this it REALLY IS A PAIN
