Are you scared yet? :p

If we consider only those using a non-FastTrack P2P network, the total number of lawsuits drops to only ~261. In other words, you then have a 1 in 45,977 chance of being sued if you do not use FastTrack. Comparatively, according to the National Safety Council, you have a better chance of being killed in a transportation or non-transportational accident, death from suicide, death from assault or death by legal intervention (such as execution or being shot by a police officer.)

The FastTrack network is the network that the popular Kazaa program connects to. However, most people don't know that it is only one of many clients that connect users to this network. As well as Kazaa there are 2 other clients that are officially sanctioned to connect to the network. Although decentralized like Gnutella (there is no central computer holding a list of all of it's users' songs), the network is incredibly stable which has allowed a peak average of 4 million individuals to traverse this network. KaZaA was the only FastTrack client that had limited the bitrate of songs being traded on the network, but the practice that was once common of the clients has left it's mark. If it is high bitrate songs you are after, you will only find a minimal amount.

so was Napster affliated with FastTrack as well? Or was it something different all together? I've always thought that Napster and Kazaa were the same...

That's why people like us try to disown them, they enjoy exploiting weak minded people who are easily scared.

what exactly is it that gives the RIAA the right to sue people?

the organization doesn't own or make the songs that are being pirated

or is it the people that belong to the group that makes it able to sue people?

Could it ever be proven? They just have to use a virus toolkit to create one, and start distributing it using P2P clients in a few internet cafes. Nothing which can point in their direction that way.

think of them as the legal representation for nearly the entire US music industry. the record companies become members of the RIAA, and let the RIAA take care of the dirty work.

You can hire russian hackers for a few hundred to thousands of dollars depending on whether you simply want a virus written or want to launch a full scale DDOS attack on a competitor. The good ones don't get caught, and no one will be able to prove you were behind it if you are careful with the payment.

lawyers who are out to make easy money from those that are insecured about their own well being.
1. don't want to share anything because then they wouldn't be so stinking rich in the first place.
2. they want to deprive us of our rights to enjoy anything without pay.
3. this legal vs illegal crap is all a scam, about control over the mass population who are looked upon as their milking machine so they can sit on an empire and laugh their socks off how gullible we are.
Everything that people do that don't involve money is illegal to them but it is our right to do so, and they can't take that away as long as we're alive.

1. Why should they?
2. No one has the right to enjoy anything without pay.
3. It's called enterprise, not some conspiracy

The "they already have enough money" argument is old and no good. Come up with a valid one please.
