These NFL playoffs threads have been weird. When given objective positions that aren't all that controversial, people instead would rather cling to alternative facts and narratives. Like the Niners are some miracle team or the Rams had a "fire sale" by acquiring Matt Stafford, Von Miller, and OBJ.

There have been others as well.
A 4 seed had longer odds than a six seed? I find that hard to believe.
Right now the Bengals have the longest odds to win the Super Bowl, +800.
The Niners are +450, which implies about an 18% probability. It's not extremely likely, but crazier things have happened in sports.
I don't have the Super Bowl odds from a week ago in front of me, but I suspect the Bengals had longer odds then.
Nobody is disputing that the Niners have pulled off upsets just to get here. What we're saying is the body of evidence is that they're a pretty good team that deserves to have gotten this far. Like I said, they're one of the few teams with a top 10 offense and defense. That is usually a recipe for success in the playoffs. Although in hindsight it's easy to say the Cowboys and Packers are "overrated," that's just a weird way of diminishing the Niners' current run.
If the Rams win, nobody should be surprised. If the Niners win, we also shouldn't be too surprised. Again, they're underdogs but they belong.
One last thing, going solely from memory; in the preseason, the SB favorites were the Chiefs and Bucs, followed by the Bills. Behind these top contenders were the Packers, Rams and Niners with roughly similar odds. I think the Ravens were in this pack as well. Point being, although the Niners took a winding road to get to the NFC champ game, even in the preseason they were seen as a top 9 team.
