Ok, here's what I need, more or less:

- Boot CD image that:
- Allows me to access my NTFS drive (C:\ with windows xp pro installed)
- Gives me basic file manipulation abilities (copy/move/rename)
- Does not require my admin password
- is free (or cracked, I am desperate and don't care)

(I seem to have corrupted my c:\windows\system32\config\system file, and the repair console doesn't take ANY admin password, and all resetting tools fail, while cracking tools say they can't figure it out - repair install fails too... but maybe if i rename those files in ....config\, it will see that they are missing and actually repair them... and lsass too... stupid windows...).

Thanks!

Sounds like you need ERD Commander, which isn't free. But you get what you pay for.

Are Linux drivers now able to manipulate NTFS without screwing it up?

I use ntfs write support in linux all the time.I only use ntfs write support to move things from my disk to my friends disks ever now and then. I never delete or modify files with it. I have yet to have anything mess up. Although my friend had a problem once when he appended a file. Ever sense he always makes a new file, deletes hte old one and renames the new file. He has not had any problems either.
