Chalenge: Cheap bookshelf speakers.

I want some cheap bookshelf speakers. They are going to be for an exercise area in my home. I'd consider getting computer speakers, but since I have a 100 watt pioneer receiver that is not being used I thought I'd go after better sound quality.

I found something from radio shack for $20 but I thought I'd ask for your fine opinions. Something with a 6.5" or so woofer (if it can be called that) would be nice. Under $50 is the goal. Under $20 would be awesome though!

So, your thoughts are welcome! And yes, I want bookself speakers and I do want to use the old unused amp due to sound quality reasoning.

Try craigslist too. There might be a decent set of larger old speakers that will give you better 2.0 performance than uber-cheap bookshelf speakers.

Thanks for the ideas. Those Dayton's look like an option.

Also, craigslist is another reasonably good idea. I'll be going there next.

Another place to try is a 2nd hand store. Salvation army etc.. People "throw out" some surprisingly good speakers sometimes without knowing what they are giving away. Course you have to know what you are looking for and you have to bring something to test out the speakers. But price wise you can get some real bargains there.
