ChainTech ZNF3-250 Processor Temp Reading Wrong

I need Help!!!!!
I have a ChainTech ZNF3-250 Motherboard with a AMD 3400 running @ 2.4Ghz 64-bit processor installed. My main problem is that the motherboad temp system (Digidoc) is telling me that it is running @ 72.0 degrees @ idle. When there is load on the processor it moves to around 80.0 degrees. This is with a new heatsink and fan (CoolerMaster Hyper 6 KHC-V81-U1) This is one of the best air cooling systems available and the temp is still so high. I can't even put my emergency shut off temp in the BIOS because it is running about that all the time. I think it is a problem with the onbard temp system because my system is vary stable and never crashes, I've also got and external temp monitor attached to the bottom of the Heatsink near the processor and that only reads around 36.6->38.0 Degrees idle and under load. If anyone is having the same problem or knows how to fix this problem let me know. Thanks very much and CHOW 4 NOW.........

Chaintech boards have temp issues with cpus with the revision "DH7-CG". Download cpu-z and se if yours is a DH7-CG.

Also, did you flash to the 3.0 bios for the znf3? Maybe that will help.

My cpu is a DH7-CG. Also I downloaded the BIOS 3.0 and flashed my BIOS. I've had a nightmare!!!!!
My RAID system went tits up on me!!!
I've got 2x120 GB SATA Drives running Strip 0 and the BIOS flash has messed them up. I can't get into the RAID BIOS in the start-up for some reason. It gives me the option to press either F4 or Ctrl + S to enter the RAID setup mode but it just will not go into it. It just By passes the options as if I did not press any keys. All the rest of the BIOS is working correctly just the RAID system.
I've had to use a standard 40GB ATA hard drive with a full re-installation to get me up and running for now, which is what I'm keying with @ the moment.
After the BIOS flash my BIOS still reads very high temp in the BIOS around 79-80 Degrees so no change there either. I'll have a look around for another BIOS update or something to get my RAID back up. If u have any more idea's let me know.

Thanks for the Help so far...............

Hi BW86
I've reflashed my BIOS with version 2.0 and I've got my RAID system back but I'll have to reformat and install the OS again. I think I'll leave the BIOS update now untill version 4.0. But if u find out or have any suggestions about the heat problem let me know.

Once again thanks...

you wont be able to fix the heat problem. It has something to do with the dh7-cg temp probe.

I have a similar NC CG 3200+ and have the same weird temps. I'm on the 7/29 BIOS and I've heard that the older BIOS doesn't have this problem, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's just a matter of misreading.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to take your suggestions and leave it for now. I may invest in a good external temp monitor soon anyway. I'll have a more accurate reading so I can overclock with conifdence.

THANKS 4 THE HELP!!!!!!!!

Heya,

yeah, I think you can probably not worry about the temps too much.
I too have a 3400+ (DH7-CG) with the lower end version of this board (VNF3-250) and obviously the first thing I noticed were the awfully high temperatures. I installed a Zalman 7000A and I still idle around 50 C with an ambient of 33 C .It goes up to the mid sixties under load. I also put a temperature probe as close as I could to the CPU, and this measures only around 35 idle and 39 load. I realize this is not exact, but I have a hard time believing the difference between the ambient and idle temp is almost 20 degrees Celsius. The true temperatures are probably in between the one reported by the VNF3-250 and my own temperature probe.

So basically I have the exact same results as you do (although I did increase my vcore to 1.6). I really wouldn't worry too much about it, but I do agree that it is kind of annoying. So all in all, nothing to help you out now, but to reassure you, you probably didn't do anything wrong :)
