Here's the deal, I put together a a64 3000/Chaintech vnf3 combo a couple days ago. With the original bios I was able to overclock to 2.25 w/ my Mushkin 3200 ram running 1:1. Today, I downloaded the 7/29 bios and flashed it. W/ the new bios my cpu temps look accurate 42c on the stock HSF but I can't overclock anymore. I have to set the FSB to 200 otherwise my computer won't boot it just hangs at that first screen. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anyway to re-flash back to the original bios? Thanks in advance for the replies.

I have a VNF3-250 and I've flashed to the 7/29 BIOS. No such problems here. The CPU temps are way off for the CG stepping Newcastle cores though. Without recalibration I'm hitting 70C idle...

Yeah, I don't know what the problem is. With the original bios (I think it was 5/7) I could change the FSB and overclock with no problems. Now, if I raise the FSB above 200 it won't boot. I looked around the internet w/ google for the 5/7 bios but I can't find it. I can only find the 3/28 one on chaintech's site. It looks like I'm going to return this board since I got it for its OCing abilities.

Try the AMDMB forums. They have a Chaintech forum there and lotsa users as well as Chaintech reps that might be in a better position to help you. I have no idea why you're experiencing the problems you are, since I'm using pretty much the same setup without any issues.
