I bought a Chaintech VNF3-250 because it was inexpensive and highly regarded. My first complaint is that it has possibly the WORST manual I have ever seen! Anyway, I have not been able to get past the initial HD/CD-Rom and Memory tests. Here are the various symptoms I have seen:
1 - "CMOS Checksum Error - Defaults loaded"
2 - Post Code 7F (shows with CMOS error) => 7F is an error when there is a full screen logo during boot up. I don't have one...
It recognizes the CPU, displays the right RAM settings, but I have been unable to get into Bios Setup or even continue from this point. There is no response from the computer when I hit the Del or F1 keys (or any other key for that matter)
3 - I reset the CMOS Jumper and then got a Post Code 67 error which the manual says is - "Prepare memory size information for function call: INT 15h ax=E820h"
Not having a clue what that meant, I unplugged the computer, reset the ram chip, reset the CMOS again, and restarted. I got the original CMOS Checksum Error and Post Code 7F
4 - I gave up for the night and this morning was greeted with my latest and favorite error ... "R350 Samsung E-die DDR BIOS - P/N 113-A077518-100"
Again, NO idea what that means so I shut the computer down once again... I should probably add that I have not been able to get the computer to reboot immediately after ANY of these errors... I have to wait something like 5 minutes (could be less) before attempting to reboot. If I try right away all I get is fan power, but no boot or video.
Oh, and after the R350 Samsung error above, I got the CMOS Checksum Error and Post Code 7F error again.
ARGH!!! Can someone PLEASE help!!! Going on 3 weeks now without my main computer...
