I bet you heard about this card by now. People rave about Dac and envy chip.

Pro:
Great 2.1 Setup. Cheap. Spdif out os great ( not amped). Some people flash with 7.1 prodigy firmware. if you do so you will lose analog out. but you can use superior driver. some do this for htpc.

Con:
Not really a Gamer card.

Here is couple tread regarding this card.

Doesn't matter if it's regular price, as long as it's the best price you can get it for. Use a price search engine and see. I bought it from ZipZoomFly before Christmas as a gift for $32.99.

Too bad the drivers are a steaming pile of crap. Note also that if you are running optical out to a receiver and use MCE, audio switching will not work properly with Update Rollup 2 installed. Flashing to the Prodigy drivers with optical out also caused video stuttering for me, so YMMV on that one.

MunkeeBoy is correct. If you install all the MCE updates, you won't be able to switch between DTS and regular( I don't know the correct word) sound. This card works with VIA Arena Drivers.

I don't have the MCE update so I could use this card.

Si, I believe the price has actually gone up. Card works for me..44.1 khz out thru spdif in regular (Via Arena)drivers. Kernel streaming thru foobar. Good tunes!:music:

i been searching for a card to upgrade my onboard nforce2 sound.

before i heard about this card, I was gonna pick up a used audigy 2 (more money),

ebaying turtle beach, or go buy a really expensive card like.. x-fi or something like that.

I only need 2.1 setup, and knowing that i can upgrade to a decent card under 30.00

seems like a good deal to me.

I just want others to know about this low-cost, great sound ( according to many reviews

and fans.) sound card.

I know that there are Many cards that will out perform this card, but i can not find anything right now under $50 dollars.

thank you all other AT users for many great deals i got.

onboard Nforce2 sound...... what's your southbridge? Which board is it? You might have the highly regarded Soundstorm which is EXCELLENT and needs no replacement.

I picked up this card but I couldn't get my Logitech Z-5500s to pickup Dolby Digital or DTS signals from DVDs that I popped in my computer. I have it connected via Fiber Optic line. It would only pick up 2.1 signals.

I fiddled with all that kernal streaming stuff, but I'm so NEWB when it comes to audio that I have no idea what its talking about
