Most places won't show the specs, they'll just show an ASUS X800XL for sale, and folks will think they are getting an X800XL, when they're not. They'll either be duped by a lower price, or they'll pay the same price as a real X800XL.
Most folks will have no idea that the card is not really an X800XL and will feel no need to check the specs page at ASUS.
The card should be called something other than X800XL, imo. Extreme implies that the card is a faster version. Combining both names on a slower card is undehanded, imo.
Powercolor's Bravo edition cards are a good example of the correct type of name for a slower card.
