This is an update (and bump) of a fantastic deal posted last November. Since saving energy (especially electricity) is even more vital now than when we originally posted this ...

This deal is available if you're a customer of PG&E: Pacific Gas & Electric, Northern California and perhaps other areas.

============

CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) bulbs are available at **incredible savings** (70% off) for PG&E customers (Northern California). CFL bulbs normally cost $10-$15 each; you can get them for $2-$4!

Quick Link to CHEAP CFL bulbs for PG&E Customers

This deal was originally scheduled to end December, 2000. But the link above now shows you can order until March 20, 2001.

NOTES:
==============

1. CFL bulbs work great -- our electric bill (usage, actually) has dropped monthly since we began installing CFLs. CFL bulbs use about 65-70% LESS energy than standard incandescent bulbs for the same output. They also last 8-10 times longer -- they save lots of time replacing hard-to-replace bulbs, and save $$$ for years.

2. This deal is for customers of PG&E (Pacific Gas & Electric) who are "Multi-Unit Dwelling Customers" (apartment/coop/condo dwellers). BUT... we **called** in our order and were **not** asked where/in-what we lived.

In other words, if you're a PG&E customer, PLEASE DO THIS! It's a fantastic deal, and you'll save money for years! (Ask questions if you're unsure.)

3. You pay **no** tax or shipping if you order from a vendor outside of California (see JKRL below).

4. JKRL, the vendor we ordered from ($200), offers the greatest variety of sizes/wattages. But, their service can be horrible -- although they're polite/nice/apologetic, we ordered in November, and received our stuff today (February, 14, 2001 -- and it's still incomplete)!

5. We've learned the following (offered so you know what to expect and aren't initially disappointed): CFL bulbs may flicker briefly when coming on, and may yield yellow/dim light initially; but within 20-30 seconds, the yellow tint disappears, and they burn bright-white.

[soapbox mode on] If you're hesitating to do this, ASK questions. It's a great/smart/responsible thing to do; and since CFL bulbs last 8-10 times longer than normal light bulbs, you'll save $$$ and time for years!!! [/soapbox mode off]

It states to be used in MULTIPLE UNIT dwellings.

Does this mean us house owners dont apply?

Will they get pissed if it is ordered to a house?

(I already have some of these bulbs-bought retail)
But could use some more, at a great price.

Sept1967...

I discussed that issue in Note #2. Good luck. It can't hurt to try.

Hot Deal!!! Smokin!!! I just ordered 10 of these. Retail is about $8 bucks apiece. You are required to be a PG&E customer and also to live in a multi dwelling building. The guy told me they verify this info with PG&E prior to shipping. Shipping is free!!!!!!!

Godsend1 ...

Glad you found this useful. You said you ordered 10 bulbs. Did you notice that most of the vendors DROP the price-per-bulb if you order 12+ ? IOW,if you cancel your order and re-order it for 12+, you could save $$$ (add a few for your mother, grandmother, neighbors, friends, etc.).

WHO did you order from (JKRL?)? I ask because a neighbor (living in a single-family house) wanted to know if he had any chance of ordering -- successfully. Your comments suggest NO. Right?

Ribbet,
They seem to be pretty tight on the type of building. They verify with PG&E what type of dwelling it is. I ordered mine from Sunpark.

Godsend1...

>>"I ordered mine from Sunpark."

Did you pay tax -- since Sunpark is in CA?

>>They seem to be pretty tight on the type of building.
>>They verify with PG&E what type of dwelling it is.

Hmmmm. I wonder if other vendors (e.g., JKRL) are so fastidious. JKRL seems sloppy -- maybe SFDs (single-family-dwellers) might have better luck with JKRL. Any SFDs wanna try it? (I'd appreciate your feedback -- we have some SFD-neighbors who'd like to do this deal.)

I've place a couple of calls over a couple of days to JRKL. So far they've failed to get back to me. Finally just faxed in the order.

Good thing about faxing is I won't have to answer any pesky questions. With power prices sky rocketing out here this is a great deal!

Healy...

Here's an e-mail address that might come in handy:

rowe@iname.com (for Charles Rowe)

We've called them many times and only Charles or Kathy answer (and someone has always answered if we call during EST business hours). BTW, they never asked any "pesky questions," but things may have changed.

Are you a "multi-unit dwelling customer?" If not, I'd appreciate hearing from you about your success/lack thereof (here, or PM/e-mail us if you'd prefer). Some neighbors of ours (single-family-dwellers) would like to do this deal, but aren't sure if they'll succeed. TIA for any feedback.
