hi, i'm looking for an adaptor which will allow me to attach an IDE drive to a compact flash slot, i know the otherway round exists and that IDE and CF standards are electronicly the same so it should be doable. anyone know anywhere i can purchase such an adaptor?
thanks.

what is your planned use for this, if its for a pda or such you may run into driver problems and more importantly power. you could get a cf2 usb host and use a hard drive enclosure, or a cf to pcmcia card.

As far as I know they do not exist, I would suggest just getting a USB2 or firewire enclosure for your old HDD they can be had for as little as $25 and should be well worth it to put your old HDD back into service.

the prob being that then i cant make my little project of turning my old mp3player in to a hifi jukebox.. i would be willing to strip out an old 4mb cf cardand make the adaptor up if somone could point me in the direction of a guide or diagarm or such showing which pin should be connected to which...

You're (partially) misinformed. CF has an emulation mode where it pretends to be IDE, when it's connected properly. It's not a two-way street though.
