Question CES 2026: Underwhelming

Corporate Electronics Show 2026

Seriously... nothing really new.

Any summary of all new announcements/products/etc is almost without surprise or substance.

Why?

Maybe because of this:

AMD-CES-2026-Keynote-Greg-Brockman.jpg

Read AMD's keynote coverage https://www.servethehome.com/amd-ces-2026-keynote-live-coverage/

it's all Big Business: Big AI, Big Pharma and even Big Government...

Trump's own DoD science advisor was on stage with Lisa

while on Client side... just a rehash rebrand of Zen 5 without any real changes, Gorgon

and everything, everything else on consumer side is luxury nonsense:

out of the entire huge conference maybe the only meaningful new tech is Lenovo's rollable OLEDs, transforming 16'' laptops to 24'' nice and easy... basically nothing else. And that was already known, Lenovo showed it elsewhere before

All above are a pattern, proof that computing has already changed...

- There will no longer be much focus on client.
- Everything built for Server
- Big Cloud, Big AI and Big Gov will get the latest chip combos before anyone else.
- Client market will be more swamped with scalpers, limited availability, higher prices...
- New gens will have x2 price of prev-gen instead of prev-gen halving price

CES sucks these days. As someone into monitors it's also usually just proof of concept. A lot of the crap they show never even gets released, it's frustrating. It's supposed to be for consumers!

Honestly the next 2 years might as well not exist for consumers at this point because AI is sucking up everything. Every part of the PC is price inflated at this point.

Yea it's hard to get excited about anything as a general user or 'enthusiast' when the market is shifting more and more toward anti-consumer, and tailoring their products to profits-over-people businesses. I agree that in a few years we'll wish it was just some dumb crypto bubble, and not some of the worlds largest corps going all in on AI everything. The dark ages are nigh.

Lenovo has rollable OLEDs for laptops, 16'' transforming to full 24'' monitor

Nice and easy and meaningful

Basically the only meaningful Good New Tech that will hit shelves 😂

All the rest is luxury nonsense... $350 keyboard with extra buttons for Stream management lol
