Cereal Diet

episodic

Lifer
I'm fat. . .

I've tried lots of diets - they all fail cause I don't have time to fix something or another. . .

Would just eating cereal for three a day probably work?

I like cereal - and it is available in lots of flavors . . . quick to fix. . .

They are loaded with fiber and vitamins - so would that be ok?

very few cereals arn't loaded with extra sugar/"fake" sugar.

You'd have to make it Grapenuts or something bland. Even then, good luck getting results with a cereal diet.

I hear there were some very effective weight loss camps in eastern Europe, but I think they went out of business.

And your question is too stupid to even dignify with a response

No it isn't a stupid question. I'm looking for something I can stick with despite having a 50 hour a week job and a life on the side. . .

count up the calories in a typical bowl of cereal + milk (be sure to measure out the serving size... the typical bowl of cereal for one person is usually 2 servings, ie: 2 cups), and see how it compares to your target resting metabolic rate. it the calories are close, the diet will work by design.

I'd recomend taking a some vitamin pills, though, just to supplament your diet.

oatmeal si better than cereal. great many cereals are just candy snacks.

boost your metabolic rate with weight training and stuff before you worry about diet. unless your eating when your not hungry and eating past "full"

that is a HORRIBLE IDEA you neeed to work out, even if its nothing big, try to do somethign small once a day, even if its just going for a brisk walk or bikeride or short run. Just eat normal food and dont stuff yourself, eat till you are no longer hungry, not till you are full.

oh yeah, and NO FAST FOOD.

with that said you should steadily drop down to a normal weight.

that is all

-Eat three high quality meals per day
-Cut out extreme amounts of sugar
-Eat a high fiber diet
-Exercise in your fat-burning cardio zone 3 or more times per week

If you want a healthy cereal buy Kashi GoLean or GoLean Crunch. The crunch is especially good for snacking, its high in fiber and other vitamins. Find it a health food store or in your grocers health food isle.

Kashi is great and they have lots of varieties. Simply put, to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you take in. Eat less, weight train to raise your metabolism as someone else suggested, and do cardio 3 times a week for at least 20-30 minutes to start.

I walk almost 2 miles EVERY day carrying about 20 pounds of books - and I am still stuck at 297. . .

Been that way for years.

Consider working with a nutritionist. Appointments every few weeks with this individual should keep you on track and headed towards an appropriate goal for your body type. If you do the "cereal diet" chances are you'll do more damage at screwing your system (and metabolism) up even more than it is right now.

best to stick with whole grain cereals if you decide to do this along with skim milk. also take a multi vitamin, and get some protien shake mix if all you are gonna eat is cereal.

EAT LESS, EAT BETTER, EXERCISE MORE. any other advice is a worthless fad. get off your ass and run 5 miles a day. start eating half of what you do now, and dont eat anything thats not 100% nutritious.

Would it work? Yeah you'd probably lose a lot of weight if you *only* ate 3 bowls a day, a lot of pesky muscle too. But if you've failed at all the other things, I can't see this lasting very long. You'll be hungry all the time!

2 miles is only going to burn about 200-300 calories. Walking is good, but you can carelessly erase that 2 miles with a few mouthfuls of food. You need more activity and need to restrict what you eat. It sucks but that's the reality.

Figure out what you burn daily, with online BMR and activity calculators, and then I highly recommend keeping a log over the next 1-2 weeks of every bit of food and liquid that enters your body. That will probably be an eye-opener.

than something is wrong, because calories don't appear out of no where and there aren't human bodies are so efficient that they run on almost nothing.
