Ceramique

OK, so i'm gonna order a DVD burner today off of newegg, so I figure i'd add some ceramique too as a replacement for the silicone paste that came with my Arctic Cooling HSF combo. I'm using a Barton 2800+ now, what would you guys do, other than rubbing alchohal and a lint free t-shirt, to remove the old paste from the HSF combo, and the slug itself? Thanks 🙂 (And I won't get AS5 because i'd rather be safe than sorry, and I don't want to part with that extra $4 😉) Anyway, my temps now at idle are 49' C for the CPU, and 59' C for the diode. If I get ceramique, would I most likely notice a decrease in temps? (I have an Antec SLK3700BQE case with only 1 120mm exhaust fan.) And the only reason i'm worried about my temps are because this system is fairly new, and i've been leaving it on 24/7, I don't want the CPU to die young just because it couldn't take the heat.

Ceramique is probably the best thermal compound you will find, and yes you will see a decrease in temps.
As for taking off the old compound, the rubbing alcohol leaves residue behind. Use 99% isopropyl alcohol on HS and cpu. You may have to ask your local pharmacist for it, they usually keep it behind the counter. (out of reach for drunk ppl I guess, lol)

so you're reccomending ceramique over AS5, I just can't decide, people just post things like "ceramique" or "AS5" as answers to questions, that doesn't help! AHHHHHHHHHH (I'm not a cpu overclocker, I leave it at stock, and run my system 24/7)

OK, I guess i'm gonna go with ceramique, and get some of that behind the counter junx to clean up the silicone paste on my stuff now.
