CEO of Netflix: TAX ME MORE

Phokus

Lifer
http://www.businessinsider.com...se-raise-my-taxes-nflx

This is in response to Cad's business owner letter. Not every rich person wants less taxes. In fact, some, like the netflix CEO and Warren Buffet want to be taxed MORE. Yes, some people are only motivated by money, but for some, they're motivated by the challenge of a job, or bettering society with a superior product or service. In fact, there is a group of rich folks who are fighting AGAINST the repeal of the estate tax (led by Bill Gate's father), because they don't want to see America turn into a bigger Plutocracy than it already is.

Just to dispel the myth that rich folks are ONLY in it for the money (well, maybe republicans are 😛) and that raising marginal tax rates will discourage work.

Mail a check to the treasury. They take donations.

Put up or shut up.

Oh, income is already going to be taxed at 50% or damn close to it as he desires.

Or 39% just like in the 1990's.

You aren't paying that anyways, so just stop crying winnar

Yeah, because state and local taxes don't exist at all.....

He's trying not to have his salary capped. So yeah, screw my company but don't screw me. Screw my employees and customers who will pay this tax and not my salary which I would like to continue to be probably much higher than 500k.

Put up or shut up and get the fuck out of the country, yes?

I have yet to find one single example of a person who is so upset by the low taxes they pay/wants to raise taxes that has sent a donation in to the government. Not one. Funny how that works.

Anyone have his email? I want to ask him how much he is going to voluntarily contribute before taxes ARE raised on him. Might as well get started now.

What is stopping him from giving more to the IRS??!?!?!?!?!?! Why do these people always want their neighbors to pay more as well?

Yea.. after all, these bailouts aren't going to pay for themselves... thank god, I don't use netflix and instead use blockbuster..

edit: Netflix is now on my personal list of things I'm going to boycot.. just like movies by certain liberal actors (e.g., Sean Penn, Jane Fonda, george clooney, etc)..

People have a choice, they can move.

Wages in states with income tax are also higher to account for it, so again here's a tissue. 🙁

A loser sinking with a loser company. How appropriate.

I always laugh at people who bitch about the "rich" paying more taxes. Like they have a big vested interest in the situation. Half the time these idiot "conservatives" don't make anywhere near the higher tax brackets. How many people here can claim to make more than $150K, let alone the $250K that might be affected by Obama's plans.

He's like 18 years old and worth millions, is his experience really relevant to people who've toiled with a company for decades? Basically I'm saying his money came quite easily by most people's standards, even compared to other big company CEOs.

Bingo, this was proposed as an alternative to CEO salary caps. I don't think any CEO wants to pay more in taxes, but it's a lot better than salary caps or some of the other ideas being thrown out there.

And in those states, he's already paying close to 50% on income. Given that the OPed has 50% as the threshold, what is your point, exactly? That tax rates are fine?

In any case, the CEO of netflix lives in MA. They have an income tax.

His statement that he's paying 33% doesn't match reality unless he's pulling a Geithner.

I don't make that much.. but I know who does. My boss. I have yet to meet an employed person who works for a bum. When my boss is affected. I am affected..

Maybe you should talk to all those people who got laid off and ask them if there bosses were rich or poor?

Oh the other hand. Hey, great idea.. everyone should work for bums.. I'm sure the salaries going to be great and the medical benefits, excellent.. Freaking liberals...

edit:

Loser company?? Are you talking about the automotive companies that are always asking for a handout or a company that is trying to make it without government bailouts? Compared to the automotive companies, Blockbuster looks "golden"..

Yeah for sure, he needs to be knocked down a peg, I mean no "real" bootstrapper would ever agree to pay more taxes right?

Like that weak, lazy asshole Warren Buffett, he's a phony too.

Lol, what is your point? You have a moral objection to anyone paying more taxes period, that's on you pal.

It's quite obvious you didn't read the "letter" if you think this is a "response" to that. It's not.

Also as others have noted - he is free to send in more money if he wishes. But just because he claims he wants to(but for some reason doesn't...go figure) it means everyone should be forced to? Only in the mind of a liberal....

Yeah, your boss would just roll up shop if he was taxed 5% more on incremental income. Please. My wife and I DO make that much and I wouldn't stop working, nor would anybody else at that rate. It's a scare tactic and a pretty fucking moronic one.

I'm not talking about BBI compared to GM. I'm talking about it relative to Netflix.

If that is the case, why don't you contribute more instead of bitching? 5% seems like a lot of money to me. I do know a lot of people who make a lot of money. A lot of times they tell me that they get tired of the rat race. Some of them even eventually quit. I know more would if you told them they would be taxed even more. Heck, some of them would even cut down on their ridiculous hours if they knew Uncle Sam.. I mean Brother number 1, Obama was going to steal more of their money. They would probably spend the extra time with their family

Ultimately though, the question remains. Instead of bitching, why don't _you_ do your part since you are so rich and have so much money to spare? Why aren't you sending an extra 5% to Uncle Sam? After all, the bailouts aren't going to pay for themselves.

For me, I am relatively poor. Actually, if you want you can just send me the extra 5%. PM please. Or else you can shut the F up!!!! ;-P

With one hand you stuff your face with food, with the other you want to take food away from others. Hypocrisy...
