Centerplate CEO draws fire for kicking dog

The CEO of a multi-billion-dollar company that provides catering services at several Bay Area sports venues has drawn harsh criticism after a hotel surveillance video surfaced showing him kicking a friend’s dog.

The elevator video from a Vancouver hotel shows Centerplate CEO Des Hague kicking a friend’s one-year-old Doberman Pinscher several times.

The dog will thank him when he creates jobs that extends a livelihood to it's owner that enables it to be cared for. :)

CENTERPLATE STATEMENT FOLLOWING INTERNAL REVIEW

August 27, 2014 by Centerplate Info In Centerplate News No Comments
Centerplate Issues Statement Following Internal Review of Animal Cruelty Incident Involving CEO Des Hague—Censures, Penalizes and Places CEO on Indefinite Probation

Centerplate’s Board of Directors recently convened a special meeting following the completion of an internal investigation and review of an incident involving animal cruelty by its CEO Des Hague.

We pride ourselves as individuals and as a company on how we treat others—both humans and animals. The company finds Mr. Hague’s personal behavior unacceptable and outside the bounds of our high standards and expectations of all of our staff. We do not condone nor can we overlook the mistreatment of animals and Mr. Hague’s personal misconduct.

Thus, upon internal review of the incident, and recognizing that Mr. Hague is truly ashamed of his actions and has expressed sincere remorse and shame for erratic behavior that is uncharacteristic of him we have decided to take the following immediate actions:

Mr. Hague will be given a written censure by the Board whereby he will be placed on indefinite probation stating that any further acts of misconduct would result in immediate termination.

As a condition of his continued employment with Centerplate, Mr. Hague will personally donate $100,000.00 USD which will be donated towards the establishment of the Sade Foundation in honor of the dog he mistreated in the elevator to help support the protection and safety of animals in the city of Vancouver where the incident occurred.

Further, we are requiring Mr. Hague to serve 1000 hours of community service in support of an organization that serves to protect the welfare and safety of animals.

Centerplate in no way condones the mistreatment of animals, and as a strong sign of our conviction, we the company will also contribute a portion of our sales to the Sade Foundation. Additionally, we will open this foundation to all Centerplate employees and the general public who want to support and contribute in the hope that meaningful change can come out of this tragic situation.

Mr. Hague still faces potential charges in Vancouver, where he is personally responsible for charges and fines in relation to the incident.

Animal abuse charges are being considered but nothing has happened on that front yet according to local media. (this is a story local to me)

Sounds good to me, but I'll be surprised if you see any proof any of this actually happens.

They are probably drinking Aged Scotch with him and hanging out figuring it is a good PR stunt.

But I'm cynical that way I guess.

I'm still joking around at work that I've been put on double secret probation last month over something much less than that, and still consider just walking out the door and looking for another programming/toolmaker gig myself.

Two days after that happened one of the best programmers they had walked out the door himself, part of the reason I got gigged was I told someone that was likely going to happen in the near future.

Heh.

Time to start looking around I guess, even though some of the people involved backed up right after that and started going what the fuck.

I actually think this guy is a 'dead man walking' at the company and possibly for any future job of comparable stature. This kind of publicity can kill careers sometimes.

If animal cruelty charges are laid I expect an announcement of his resignation within a week. This company does big business locally and locals are quite unhappy about this news. It's been on all the local tv news and local newspapers.

I'm a cynic.

Next, they fire him, but he'll get a $20 million dollar golden parachute bonus when he's fired, along with a <wink, wink, nudge, nudge> from the board who know they were forced to take the above actions merely as a matter of public relations.

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking to begin with.

Looks like the dog is cowering by lying down in the elevator. The asshole probably hurt the dog before going into the elevator or had done it in the past.

Hopefully, more media attention is created and he's fired.

What difference does it make if he is fired? A CEO has a lot of money in the bank. Send him out to the wilderness, society has no use for someone like that, but at the same time, doesn't have the right to end his life.
