If anyone needs some ram for a "beater" system:

Go to Circuit City, search for Centon 128MB PC133, order it for 27.99, checkout using instore pickup (pick a store where you will be doing some last minute shopping, this is not worth a special trip). Print out and complete the $15 Centon and $10 Circuit City rebate.

Comes to a little over $5. It takes a little work filling out and keeping track of the rebates. Memory worked fine @ 103 MHZ 222 with an old Cel 300 @ 464 that I put together for my niece at college.

:) Just bought a stick of this CENTON RAM 128M PC133.

 Chips has CE 0149 CE16MX8X4 -75 printed on it.

:frown: Since I cannot readily recognize the manufacturer, can I assume this is another generic POS?

I thought about it a little more. If my link has a session id in it, and therefore you can't get it to work, please go to www.overclockers.com and then click on 'tips&techniques' at the top center. At the next screen click 'Memory.' The article will be at the top of the next screen, titled "12/4/01: RAM Test: $8 Centon SDRAM."

Of course, now it's less than $8!:D

Just noticed that the $10 circuit city rebate requires a serial number off the ram stick.

Anyone know where that is...I mean since when did they start putting s/n on ram?

Man, this rebate thing is getting too complicated for me already!

The serial number is just to the right of the "128MB" in the third line on the Centon label on the stick.

My sticker (on an SODIMM from last week's CC deal) looked like this:

Centon
Electronics Inc.
128MB 146155
GIRAV4VDA
No Warranty If Removed

The serial number is "146155". I am pretty sure of this because we bought two sticks (one for my brother-in-law and one for me) and the only difference between the two labels was the printing of the third line.

BTW, thanks for the post! I already ordered this deal for pickup on Wednesday.

Hope this helps.

I also got in on the laptop memory deal and the sticker on that stick of memory reads:

Centon
Electronics Inc.
128MB 146155
128MBT100
GIRAV4VDA
No Warranty If Removed

Which is the same as Northland's. I

The "55" of "14655" was somewhat blurred and could easily be mistaken for "66". I used my 10X Epson loupe (a product of another hot deal from this site) to read the numbers.

I'll have to get the recent stick out of the computer to post its serial number.

Hmmm...now that you mention it...that six digit number looks more like SKU than a serial number...think about it...CENTON probably churn out like millions of these...right?

Got mine. Is everyone using the confirmation page as the receipt? Or the email? All I got at the store is the merchandise pickup receipt.

Form CC's rebate website

Rebates

Many of the products we sell offer mail-in rebates from the manufacturer, Circuit City, or both. For your convenience, we have made the rebate forms
available on our Web site. All you need to do is select the type of product from the list below, locate the rebate offered on your product, print the
form, and follow the detailed instructions. It?s easy!

There are a couple steps you can take to ensure fast, reliable fulfillment of your rebate.

1) Be sure to print out your Order Confirmation page upon completing the order process, or the Order Confirmation e-mail that we send you
upon receiving your order, and submit this with your rebate form.

2) For online purchases, rebate offers ends at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on the date of expiration.

I was filling out my rebate slip, and when I got to the S/N section, the form implies that the S/N is 19 digits long...any ideas?

My 128MB stick has no s/n on it.
It only has a sticker said "No Warranty if removed" over a laser shine sticker.
and the ram chips and PCB said SpecTek.

The Rebate form does not said anything about 19 digit? where is it from.

LOOKS like they changed the on-line rebate forms. The $10 rebate, originally only good from 12/23-24 had 19 boxes where you are supposed to fill in the s/n. But the new form still requires s/n to be submitted, which I'm still not sure where its printed on the ram stick.

i send email to CC to tell them the rebate is wrong. They said:

I do apologize for any inconvenience that you may have encountered, but
form was created by the manufacturer and they are responsible for the
information included on it. But we thank you for looking out for any
incorrect information for us. If you wish to contact the manufacturer's
rebate center the number is 1-800-244-0164.

Next thing i look, the rebate form sent to centon is corrected now. I will have to reprint it.

However, i am no where (the link does not work) see any "19 digit" placeholder for the s/n. Just a long big box to fill in.
and the date is from 12/23 to 12/29! So this deal is still good.
Funny that BigdaddyF and I see 2 diff. date, 2 diff. form.... (i follow the rebate link in my confirm email, the link under the memory product and the link under the rebate page. Have the same same. So where is "the other form"?)

Send email to Centon about the question of S/n. Got email :
Out of Office.

Im going to have to start picking my teeth with RAM, if I keep buying it...

But for 2.99...who could pass one up.

My printed rebates were $10 and $15

This is the reply i got:

We have no serial number on our modules¡K therefore it is not a required field. These rebate forms are generic (same format for various product to which they offer rebates). They do not take into account that some products will not have serial numbers on them. Fill in the line that asks for a serial number with ¡¥N/A¡¦. It will still be honored. If I can of further assistance in a Technical matter, feel free to contact me. For any future "Rebate Related" issues please contact rebate@centon.com or call 1-800-244-0164 option 3.

Thanks, Modman. I got my 128MB stick from CC today. Have all the forms and will send them in today. This was a great find. Like others here, I didn't really need any more memory, but how *can* you pass it up when it's practically free?

Thanks again and good luck to all....

:D
