Center console DIY

I have a 1997 Ford Ranger 2WD Manual Single Cab that I am hoping to "remodel."

I already took out the bench seat and replaced it with two bucket seats. I just got back from the car audio place here in town with a new set up. I need some ideas for a center console that I am hoping to build around the 10inch sub that I picked up. I googled some center console ideas but couldn't find much.

Any ideas? Anyone ever build their own console?

Thanks 🙂

I've actually done a lot of fiberglass work -- although I'm still an amateur at it, I have managed quite well. The three main things I've done were my subwoofer boxes, my car computer lcd screen, and my ipod holder mount. I've got some pictures:

Carpeted Sealed Subwoofer Enclosures
IPod Mount

Overall from my experiences, fiberglass is easy to work with but can be annoying at times.

Plan on buying a decent amount of semi-expensive grinders/dremels, I even went through my Craftsmen All-in-one tool, one of those regular small dremels you see everywhere is not gonna do that job.

My friend and I actually tried making a center console but it was quite difficult, that and my friend was very impatient and it didn't turn out good. Be patient with your design and while working with fiberglass and your stuff will turn out great.

Also, as you will learn, if you are doing fiberglass work in a cold climate, you're gonna have long dry times that can most likely take over 4 hours to dry. There were some days in the summer where I could apply the resin and it would be dry like 15 minutes later.
