Center Channel for Home Stereo Question

Howdy,

I've been sending my receiver's center preout to my TV until today, when I finally bought the matching center channel for my front speakers. My question is, where should the center channel be in respect to height? Also, is it ok to have it on top of the stereo or TV?

It works best if its inline with your left and front speaker. This creates a level front stage that is preferable.
 
MikeD03C is right, but not always pratical with large Rear Projection TVs. It might help to elevate your left and right front speakers to compensate.
 
Are you honestly going to notice a difference if the center channel is above or below the TV?

If the height bothers you, you could stick a book under the back of the center channel to aim it down to ear level.
 
ideally all 3 speakers should be on the half-way vertical of the TV's screen.
Or at least all on axis with each other.
But listening is the ultimate way to tell; especially if the center is different than the mains.
 
Just as long as it is aimed towards where your head would be in the ideal listening position. You may have to tilt it up or down depending where it is.
