Commerce and the DOJ come out yesterday and say it’s done. Moving on. Then in one tweet Trump sows more chaos and uncertainty.

At some point these people need to maintain a shred of decency and reputation and just resign. They look like ineffectual fools.

Oh, I forgot to mention that everyone except for their own is a member of the lower caste and they get to live in abject poverty without any assistance from the government because we need to spend $3 Trillion a year on the military.
 
Well, Barr did it again, and why not? Pelosi refuses to start impeachment and who cares if they get sued and hammered eventually midway for it not being actually compliant with the SCOTUS ruling. Shee-it, that's probably when they'll "accidentally" circulate it.

Always take a swipe at the Democrats, right? The rest is pretty silly, too. Trump will either cut his losses or dig himself a deeper hole. There's no fucking way anybody will mail out census forms different that what the SCOTUS has decreed. Nor do they want to tell the Court that the census will be delayed for any reason. They have a clear path to a timely census & doing otherwise invites the wrath of the Court. Just because the President can't be indicted doesn't mean the SCOTUS can't hold him in contempt.

Significantly the judges could hold anyone but the President (or possibly Vice-President) in criminal contempt with jail time involved, and therefore defacto force the government to stop pursuing the citizenship question on this US Census. In a ongoing criminal contempt case because the government has not stopped the required action, the federal judge in question can immediately issue another criminal contempt or criminal contempt (plural) of court verdicts. Now its true Trump could immediately try continuing issuing pardons and create an indisputable severe true constitutional crisis, but you would expect true political consequences for Republicans if something this blatant happens and they are still blocking impeachment at that point

Furthermore the risk the standoff eventually ends with some of those held in criminal contempt going to jail would presumably be sufficient to persuade a bunch of regular US Census Bureau employees to comply with the judge's order and effectively block the Trump administration from actually asking the question. (A closely related aspect would be the judge could issue the threat of a criminal contempt order against employees of the commercial firm printing the forms with the question on them which would be another way to effectively block the Trump administration from asking the question.)

Yep..What would be the penalty he would face? The same as for someone who violates the Hatch Act, right? I can almost hear Mitch McConnell calling the Census "socialism".

Waiting for the Trump administration to order 300,000,000 sticky notes to add the question to the census forms.
