Cendyne CDRW Install Problem - Help Please!

Hi,

I am installing the Cendyne 32x12x40 CDRW for a friend and it appears to be slow. She has a Dell P2 400MHz, Win 98, and I set up the CDRW as master on the secondary channel, with a Zip drive as slave. The hard drive is the primary master. DMA has been enabled.

When I try copying a CD (music), it takes over 5 minutes to read, using the supplied Nero software - I thought this number was low. When I ran the Nero CD speed, I got a 26x average.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

just out of curiousity, try it again but with the zip drive disconnected.
only suggesting this as I suspect that the m/board may be an old model & the devices on one channel may run at the speed of the slower device ie the zip drive. newer boards don't have this problem!
