CENDYNE 48x12x48 FREE AR/PM at CC YMMV

CC is offering Cendyne for 79.99+tax and $50 MIRs. OM is advertising I/OMagic 48x burners but they had to subsititute the I/O Magic brands with Cendyne or Pacific Digital. The price at OM is 49.99. Get CC to PM OM at the 49.99 price. Remember CC has a 110%PM policy.

The math
79.99-$33(110%PM)=46.99+tax-$20MIR-$30MIR=FREE

yeah circuit city is one really one of those stores where YMMV really applies... cause the punks selling the stuff are on commission they dont want to give anything for cheap...much less work on getting u a better price..

besides the OM i want to are all out..of stock..so i dont think i will work in a lot of areas..but u may try it..

This worked for me.

The caveat is that I didn't know about the CC deal and already bought the Cendyne at OM as a subsitution for the I/O magic which they were OOS.

I went to CC and showed my receipt from OM w/ the price of $49.99 for the Cendyne. So I scored a 48X burner for $4.24 (CA tax) after the $50 MIR 😛

I'm wondering if I should return the OM Cendyne even though $20 after MIR is a pretty good price.

u could also pm to microcenter which has 20% off
the key is to buy the item at full price
then comeback with the microcenter price
and get 110% off that.
the CSRS are not on commision and dont care wut the price is
they jsut dont like giving out money 😛

(I don't know what YMMV stands for so I am posting this extremely large acronym in hopes of someone answering)

How many people actually get the mail in rebates? I bought a Que CD Burner before and never got the rebate, called compUSA and they told me the company filed for chapter 11. Not much you can do huh? What else can you do?

Which OM has Cendyne to substitute I/O Magic?? The weekly ad for the OM in my area (08540) has Verbatim for 90 - 40 IR - 30 MIR but not Cendyne...

At the OM I went to in California, they were out of the I/O Magic which was featured in the ads. When I asked if they had subsitutions, they showed me 3 subsitution choices which were sent by the HQ. Unfortunately, of the 3 choices, they only had Cendyne which was what I bought.

I"ve always had tough time convincing CC of any substitutions, let alone price matching in SF Bay Area

I agree. I think what convinced them was my reciept from OM showing the price of $49.99 🙂

The OM's here in Southeastern PA had the I/O for $69.99 - $30 IR = $39.99. On New Year's day, I called ahead to OM and confirmed that they had the Cendyne substitutes in stock, and I got the rep's name for reference.

I then called CC, and after commiserating with a young female rep about having to work on New Year's day, etc., pre-confirmed over the phone all the details for the potential price match -- the brand switch at OM to Cendyne, it's availability there, it's "in stock" status at CC, the fact that I had the OM stores circular, phone number, and the name of the rep I'd talked to, plus, of course, my shoe size.

She said, "No sweat, just come in to customer service and ask for Jamie, and I'll make you a happy man, big fellah."

Upshot: My total after price match came to $38.15 with tax, and I got to flirt lightly with Jamie the sultry CC service slut.

The drive wasn't a Lite-On, and I was crushed beyond human endurance. Life lost all meaning for me briefly, and I was sorely tempted to rush out into the snow flecked parking lot and throw myself under the unforgiving wheels of the Chevy Astro van full of ambiguously gay Rotarians just starting to exit it's parking space, when I had the following transformative epiphany:

Life is the ultimate Hot Deal. Sure, the promise of an eternal afterlife is like a Pacific Digital rebate -- uncertain at best -- but we have no choice but to keep posting and pricematching until the forums of life go permanently offline in Armageddon's holy flames.

. . . And I just got payed nearly $12 AR for a free, fast burner.

Only thing is those Cendyne rebates take soooooooo loooooooong to get here. When it says 8-10 weeks count on the 10 weeks (or more). But it did get to me and just in time for Christmas.

i tried to get on this deal but they were all sold out of pretty much every single cdr on the shelves. any other way to get this deal?

I picked up one tonite at OM. Mine is a 4816P, and there were also 48125W and CW4802 models there. Did I pick the right one or should I go back for one of the others?? The last 5 digits of my serial # is WA000. What brand are the others? I just gotta flash if I can get a LiteOn!

48125W is a liteon - but not overclockable/upgradable. don't know about the others.
you want a 48126s or preferablya 48246s to flash the firmware to 52x24x

I'm pretty sure that 48125W is the Lite-ON its listed on their website. 4816P is Benq and CW4802 is OptoRite, searched for it on Google.

OK I scored on this. Called several of my area OM stores and found one of the LTR-48246S models 15 miles from me. Thanks stingygrrl, I can now trash this POS HP Cdwriter!
