are you sure these are LITE-ONS from amazon ? can you confirm it ? i just order the damn polaroid 24x and had to return it to office max... cuz it was... TOP-GLORY...
 
I got one a while back and it was a Accesstek

I immediately returned it.

Beware!

Many or rebadge units from Aopen, Acer, Accesstek, Teac, Lite-On etc.
 
I bought a 6x4x32 Cendyne from Amazon a little over a year ago and it was a Ricoh. I've had no probs with it at all.

Depends. As noted above, you could wind up with a TEAC, Lite-ON, Ricoh, Accesstek or ????!

Cendyne does not manufacture, they only buy whatever they can get their hands on (cheaply?), bundle it with software, cable etc and stuff it into a cardboard box with Cendyne label on on.

So what you get is luck of the draw.

PS - When I bought mine, it took about nine months to get the rebate.... but take that with a grain of salt as it could have been a COMPU$A problem. I have seen reports of people getting their checks in a timely manner.

 
My brother just had me order one to replace his old 2x2x6 memorex. I added a portable cd player with car kit to put it over $100 to get free shipping, used the $10 off $75 coupon, and used an old $5 and one $10 giftcertificate that was going to expire. After the $40 rebate it will cost $48 for the burner and the portable cd player - not bad. I hope he gets a lite-on. I have a philips cdrw800 series I got for $20 at staples and I can't get it to burn 80 minute cds or work right in winxp.
 
can anyone suggest a $15.50 or more item to add to this drive to make shipping free? A free after rebate item and the $10 coupon would would make this deal warmer than most .
