"I got a 8x8x32 Cendyne for $19.99 at the OM in Matteson, IL. The cashier had to ask someone to go in back to look for it, and I forgot to ask how many they have left.
It's a rebadged Teac CD-W58E and came with a copy of NTI. No firmware updates available."
coworker told me they had done that also @ the store i sent him to last nite. guess they are trying to hid them for themselves, hoping they will go down. yeah, the ones i bought on dat were teac w58e also, but they came with nero. wonder what happened? that's a rebrander for ya
"Could you post a link to a scan of the receipt? This drive is on clearance at my local Office Max, but for $61."
"$61? The normal price on my drive was $59.99."
it was $60 even HERE
"I'm curious, why would someone buy a 8x CD-RW drive (with no burnproof and takes 25 mins to burn a CD) for $19.99, when you can buy a 32x CenDyne/LiteOn (burns a CD in 3 1/2 mins) from Staples for the same $19.99??????? Just curious LINK Fortunately OfficeMax has a 14 day return policy."
there is NO staples HERE.
"Since most people are getting their CenDyne rebate checks in 4 to 6 weeks that not a problem, so it comes down to do you want to spend your $20 on older 16x or 8x technology or newer 32x technology. I would think that most people would want the best technology that their money could buy."
most people (?) is not the same as everybody 🙂 and not everybody can come up with $20 before the deal expires, much less $80...
and who says older technology isn't as good? that teac is bulletproof (imo), if not burnproof. in these harsh economic times, i bet manuf are trying to find the cheapest ways to manufacture their products to increase their profits. usually in response, qa goes right out the window...
"I do a lot of rebates, I got three checks just yesterday. But having said that, I got this drive instead of going the rebate route. There's just something to be said for walking out of the store after paying just $20 instead of $90."
amen, my brother. AMEN.
