Cellular broadband PC Card (Verizon / AT&T) ... which is faster ?

I have not been keeping up with the latest trends ... so please advice.

I do have the AT&T Tilt phone that works wonderfully if tethered to the laptop and the speed is around 700Kbps ... but often I visit sites where cellphones are not allowed. Interesting, they allow these PC cards.

So which is faster ? EVDO from Verizon or H from ATT ?

With Verizon (and Sprint, another one to consiter), I can usually get around 1mb/sec on EVDO rev A and around 500-750 kb/sec on EVDO. At&T's HSDPA is faster, but coverage is much less. both Verizon and Sprint have almost 100% of their networks evdo and almost 75% of that is Rev. A, so you will be faster more places.

I concur with uli200. However - if you are already on board with AT&T, adding the connection card may be a better option because your cell works where you plan to use it.

All of these things really depend on location. I have Sprint with the Merlin S720 card, and at home it is EVDO Rev. A. When I go to California, it is mostly that, but at my sister-in-law's house in Pasadena, it is on the fringe of the cell - so it fades in and out from nothing to 1xRTT to EVDO to EVDO Rev A.
