I do not have one, they keep coming out with phones that have more gadgets, but it seems like the quality of the actual networks hasn't really been that improved over the years. When I call people on their cell phones it's still not uncommon for them to cut out or the call even to drop sometimes.

Where I work we have cell phone vendors in this week (today is Nextel/Sprint and AT&T) with decent discounts on phones and plans. I went and took a look at them, but think I'll take a pass yet as I just don't see the need for people get get a hold of me where ever I go.

I have one because I travel a lot and it is also for my business on the side (I also work full time for a large company) so my clients can get a hold me of me whenever (my business is running 24/7).

I don't have a landline. My roommate pay for it and I pay for the DSL broadband (we still cannot get naked DSL here, damm you ATT/BellSouth).

Cellphone is a necessity if you travel/mobil a lot. If you don't travel much, I don't see why you would need one.

Cellphone pros: Free long distance in continental US, mobility, internet (PDA phone), GPS (if your phone is able), you don't have to pay the outrage fees for phone at the hotels, txt/sms services.

Cons: stupid taxes and fees (I think I am paying about 12% in fees/taxes every month), quality is not as good as landline, coverage is spotty at best, especially if you are in rural areas.

This greatly has to do with the technology in the phone itself. For example, my GF and I are both with AT&T (Cingular). She owns a RAZR V3 and I just got one of the new KRZR phones. Both are made by Motorola and brand new. In my apartment, I can put both phones together side by side and my KRZR will have 4/5 bars and her RAZR will have 1/5 or 2/5. I can hear so much better with my KRZR even when the signal strength is equal. Despite what all of these companies telling you about how there is no difference in reception between their phones, it is a lie.

Bleh, there are days where I want to smash my phone with a sledgehammer because of the constant calls coming through.

But, I keep my cellphone for convenience.

I'll get one when they make one that doesn't sound like crap compared to my land phone.

21 and just got my first phone this past summer. I was totally against it, up until the point I would have found one useful...5 times in a few month span. It's sitting on a bookshelf right now and is off. Paying ~$15 a month pre-paid, use every once in a while. There's a few times where I couldn't have pulled something off without it, so I'm satisfied. There's a 2.0 MP camera onboard, which is really nice. Unfortunately, I still haven't bought the transfer cable (don't like having to remove battery to get to memory card) and don't have any wi-fi capable desktop.

I wish i didn't have one. My parents bought me one when I was 13. 3 years ago, it was the big cool thing, now i'm beginning to hate them.

I didn't have one until 6 months ago, when I finally caved in and got one to used at work. (Work reimburses for business use, and with all the travel we were doing it helped a lot)

Two months later.. they laid me off.

Fortunately I still get the corporate discounted contract... at least until it expires. :)

I have one, but I don't use it very much because all of my friends just text... and I don't like texting, I like a phone call.
