Howdy,

Let me preface that I am trying to piece together a system of devices/technology that will keep me ultra tied together. In addition, I'd like to control as much of the data myself and not have to rely on a third party (currently google knows everything about me, a bit scary sometimes, but most of the time it doesn't bother me).

My brother got a HTC Mogul that I was impressed by, but was trying to sync it with an ics file I've published to the net using Thunderbird/lightning + webdav. I've been searching the net and phone to try and get it to pull data from that, but no dice.

Is there a phone that can do this? I like the mogul itself, but a breakdown of desires is as follows:

decent sized screen
stream radio (like somafm)
sync datebook with ics file or otherwise wirelessly with main pc
keyboard to easily compose emails/edit calendar

I'd like the phone to be a 2 way system, not just pulling data from the calendar but able to update it also. I don't think i know enough about all the different cellphone technologies out there, but would appreciate links to articles that could enlighten me. I plan on sticking with sprint and renewing my SERO plan.

Thunderbird sync with BB

Enjoy!

While I think BB are pretty cool, one thing I'm specifically trying to avoid is depending on Google for my information. I have my own hosting service and all that and would like to keep as much under my control as possible.

However, if you find another way for a BB to sync with an ical/ics file, I'm happy to reconsider :)

OK, fair enough. I've ripped this from another forum:

It's totally possible to do what you want for a one-time cost of $30 for a piece of BlackBerry software.

1) Set up a free online account at mobical.net
2) Download and install the Nexthaus SyncJe client on your BB
3) Install the free Tsync extenstion in your Thunderbird

Reference this sticky of mine:

http://www.blackberryforums.co...ou-use-linux-unix.html

Ignore the linux aspect of it, the sticky explains how to accomplish steps #1 and #2 so I don't have to rewrite it all. All that's left is the free plugin that speaks SyncML with TBird you can get here:

SyncML extension for Mozilla Thunderbird and Mozilla seamonkey

Install it, configure it the same way you did the SyncJe client settings, and sync your contacts up to the Mobical webserver. Now do a sync on your BB with the Nexthaus client and boom - all done.
