I heard their ad on the radio in Green Bay, but never around Madison (where I go to school). Apparently, it is valid in the entire EinsteinPCS service area (not very big).

But 39.99 for unlimited airtime (out of state long distance extra) isn't a bad deal. It is all digital (like Sprint) except people actually get good reception. I'm really considering dumping Sprint for this.

I'm also a student @ UW-Madison. This promotion has been around since late August-early September. There are some limitations: EinsteinPCS is GSM instead of TDMA or CDMA (so no dual or tri-mode phones, just GSM). On top of that, Airadigm (Einstein's parent company) filed for bankruptcy protection a year or two ago. They have towers only in Wisconsin and have no roaming agreements with other companies that have GSM networks (like Voicestream), so that means roaming outside their network is quite expensive. However, since it's GSM, you can purchase cards from other companies instead of roaming with Einstein.

Just my two cents. If you think I mispoke, please don't flame. I'm not perfect. =)

No, I don't think you mispoke at all. You're right, their service area is extremely limited. I was pretty pleased when I found it since the area covers Madison, Green Bay (and the road in between) which is where I am 95 percent of the time.

I had no idea about the bankruptcy. I'm really glad you told me about that. I think I'll just keep my Sprint service till the end of the contract. Gotta love Sprint's reception on the UW Campus. :|

just had to lay down some tracks here. I am in madison and I have had einstein pcs before. I got in on a deal they had for a prepay phone that included like 200 minutes. The key to using the prepay is to take advantage of the first minute incoming free. Luckily the phone beeped whent the call was at 50 secs. The reception was good on campus but did not work well on the west side of town near the mall and target. I currently have us cellular and the reception is o.k., definitily better than my friend's sprint service. Good luck in school guys! over and out.
