Hey all, I have a question. Since we all come to Anandtech to search for information on building our on computers, has anyone done the research or actually obtained the parts to build their own iphone or android cell phone? With all the broken and salvage phones around like on Swappa boneyard and the availability of so many roms that can be loaded, I would think that it would be not so hard but maybe time consuming to do so. With Apple paying about $300 to make a iphone 6 it would be great to do something similar for ourselves rather than pay $600-900 for one.
 
It's definitely not as easy as building a computer. I have high hopes for Project Ara, which is Google's project for modular smartphones, something along what you're thinking.
