Cell phones that use phone lines while at home?

A few years ago a friend of mine mentioned that his Nokia cell phone would automatically use the home phone line (wirelessly) while he's at home. I was wondering if someone could tell me what phones currently support this feature?

Are you sure it isn't just a service that forwards cell phone calls to his home line if his phone is turned off?

I think none.... I've never heard of that. Why wouldn't you just use your home phone while at home?

IIRC, there was a cordless phone that doubled up as a cell phone when you leave the house

Nah, he said that his cell can search for nearby wireless phones and connect to them as if it were the wireless handset that came with that phone. I lost track of the guy, so i can't ask him now.

Maybe he's just talking about call forwarding.

I can set my cell phone so that when it's powered off it send calls to another number (which I place as my home phone line) rather than just sending it to voice mail.

Call forwarding is available on pretty much every cell phone network with most phones nowadays.

If not, I've never heard of what he's talking about.

Hmm yeah that must be it.

No, there was a service that used your local line when you were home, and went cellular outside of a certain range. The advantage was cheap calls locally, but crumbling cell minute charges killed the idea..
