Cell phones suck

got a new Cingular Samsung SGH-x497 and I like it for the most part, but the damned thing has a password already set for some reason, so I can't access half the features. It also doesn't display the names of incoming callers that are in my phonebook. Any thoughts on fixing those things? I wouldn't mind buying another phone since this one was mostly free, but I can't seem to find a good unlocked flip phone with an external time display that doesn't have a camera that I won't use... thought I might import one.

I went to the Samsung site and it was sad... my model had no support... I sent them an email ... hope they reply... but check this out... at the bottom of the page it said:

"we may send you special offer emails... check this box if you do not want them?
please check this box if you want special offers"

there was only one box.... catch 22

help = thanks.

your password is usually the last four digits of your phone number. If that does not work try 0000

the x427 is ancient.

try 000000 or 0000 whichever amount of numbers you can fit in the password prompt.

if not try the last 4 digits.
if that doesn't work just throw it against a brick wall and get a new phone

yea it seems old but i really like it... my old phone blacked out the time and wasn't a flip, so I had to turn it on all the time and the buttons got messed up in my pocket... but it at least displayed the names of my phonebook ppl when they called. Does everyone else's phone do that here?

Yeah my moto e815 does that and a pic of the caller if I have one linked to the phonebook.
